Back-End Developer (PHP)

About this role

You will be working in Agile and Waterfall project management and taking ownership of our back-end codebase for web application projects where a typical stack comprises of : 

  • PHP (WordPress / Laravel / Vanilla)
  • JavaScript
  • jQuery
  • MySQL


  1. Support the entire application lifecycle (concept, design, test, release and support).
  2. Writing clean, well-designed, high-performance, well-tested, maintainable code and efficient back-end code by using best practices.
  3. Ability to work with stakeholders on multiple fronts to help shape and deliver the developer experience roadmap.
  4. Focus on the development of all server-side logic and maintenance to ensure high performance and responsiveness to requests from the front end.
  5. Work closely with the Project Manager and Development team to gather specific requirements and suggest solutions.
  6. Provide implementation and production support on the in-house build of mobile and web applications.
  7. Working with and incorporating feedback from business stakeholders and other developers.
  8. Responsible for your own development tasks.


  1. A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  2. Minimum 1 – 2 years of proven and demonstrable experience working in developing Back-End projects.
  3. Experience in software development tools such GIT or using any cloud service such as AWS (Amazon Web Service) or Digital Ocean.
  4. Experience building APIs and ideally the infrastructure that enables them
  5. Have solid understanding and experience on using PHP framework and CMS such as Laravel and WordPress development. Other than Laravel & WordPress will be a bonus.
  6. Knowledge of security as related to web applications.
  7. Strong Knowledge  of Object-Oriented Programming.
  8. Strong Knowledge of Database Query
  9. Excellent analytical skills with a good problem-solving attitude.
  10. Ability to perform in a team environment.
  11. Strong oral and written communication skills (Bahasa Malaysia, English).

Added advantage

  1. Experience building your own custom system using vanilla PHP (Procedural or OOP).
  2. Have experience producing SDKs, either open source or in-house, or another developer tooling.
  3. Have some understanding of Protocol Buffers, message queue systems or event-driven architecture.
  4. Have experience with contract, and other forms, of end-to-end testing.
  5. Have worked with distributed systems and have solved, or have a good understanding, of the problems that you can face when doing so.
  6. Have some experience using Alibaba cloud or  Google Cloud.

Working Hours

Monday – Friday. 9.00 AM to 6.00 PM (1 Hour lunch break). —– Hybrid environment : 2 days WFH, 3 days in the office.




Up to RM 36,000 – RM 60,000++ / year
